Block MB/OSDSF/B-80/2016 (B-80)
The Field Development Plan of this Block involves drilling two new subsea development wells. The major part of the drilling campaign was excuted during the COVID-19 pandemic amidst the complete lockdown. Despite facing global sourcing hurdles and navigating local logistics, HOEC successfully completed the drilling campaign. The project involved installation of India’s first Mobile Offshore Processing Unit (MOPU), setting up a Single Point Mooring (SPM) system, and mobilizing a Floating Storage & Offloading (FSO) vessel.
The field was put on production in June 2022 and HOEC became the first company to initiate production from an offshore field under the DSF policy of the Government of India. The first crude offtake was recorded on January 30, 2024.

What’s on the Horizon
B-80
- Minimum Work Programme commitment of drilling 2 subsea wells completed in fast-track mode
- First among the Offshore Blocks awarded under DSF Bid Round I to be put on production from June 2022 onwards.
- Plan to drill 3 development wells and hook up for production in FY 2026-27
Cauvery Basin
HOEC holds Participating Interest in two offshore Blocks in Cauvery basin – PY-1 and PY-3.
PY-1
PY-1 field’s unconventional fractured granitic basement reservoir marks it as one of India’s first offshore non-associated natural gas fields to be developed and put into commercial production since 2009. HOEC has installed an offshore well-head platform named SUN with nine well slots. A sophisticated 57 km sub-sea pipeline connects the platform to the landfall point at Pillaiperumalnallur Village (PPN), at Thirukadayur (Tamil Nadu), where an onshore gas processing terminal has been established. This gas processing facility has a handling capacity of 55 MMSCFD.
